The attached picture shows Wrington's Youth Team of 1969 or 1970.
The team was entered into the Weston-Super-Mare and District
under 17 youth league and this was our 1st season.
The
majority of the team were 15 or 16 whereas the other teams were
mainly 17 or 18 years of age.
During the season we obtained only 1 point. This was for a draw
at Weston St Johns who we played away at the end of the season
and when we started they only had 7 or 8 players.
We went 3-0 up and by half time I think they had a full team.
We held out for a draw and our one and only point.
We
were given a sportsmanship award by Doug Atwell, the league President.
The picture shows all the local players as the ones outside the
village were not there for the photograph.
