Mendip Minis - Sue Gearing
[see also Mendip Walks]

Wrington's own walking journalist, Sue Gearing, has a second book of walks on Mendip and these are short circles which Sue hopes will encourage many more people to get out 'on the hill'.

Mendip Minis has 12 circles of about four miles in length, within the capabilities of most leisure walkers and reasonably fit people. They can easily be done in a morning or an afternoon.

The walks weave their way through well- known and more out of the way places throughout the Mendip area to give an apppreciation of the wide range of landscape, flora, fauna and history.

An ancient long barrow, a butterfly meadow, our industrial heritage, bluebell woods, streams, an old canal, a railway walk....all these and more are on the routes. This is Sue's ninth walking book - the third of walks on Mendip, and the first book she has published herself.

"I have designed the book so that it is easy to read, a pleasure to look at, and easy to use" said Sue.

It is printed on good quality glossy paper, 48 pages with full colour photographs, and very original maps done by Sarah Grice of Congresbury, one of Sue's yoga students who is a graphic designer.

And particularly helpful is the spiral binding so that pages can be folded back easily.

Mendip Minis is available from local shops, from the Mendip Society or direct from Sue at 1 Haydens, Wrington, BS40 5QD. (tel: 01934 862279) Price £5.25 (plus 83p post and packing).
