The scheme will deliver pedestrian footway improvements and traffic calming measures aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for local residents and visitors.
The works will include the construction of kerb build-outs to replace the existing planters, installation of new dropped kerbs, new double yellow lines near the school and improvements to the pedestrian footway.
Works will take place daily between 8am and 5pm and are expected to be completed by Friday 17 April.
To enable the works to be carried out safely, a road closure will be in place on School Road during the working hours. The road is expected to remain open outside of these hours and at weekends, unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
Access for emergency services, residents and local businesses will be maintained throughout the works.
Cllr Hugh Malyan, North Somerset Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for roads said: “We appreciate that roadworks can cause temporary disruption and would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while these improvements are carried out. These works will help create a safer and more accessible environment for pedestrians in Wrington.”
If the works are completed ahead of schedule, the road will be reopened as soon as it is safe to do so.
