The next volunteer sessions will be:

Saturday 26th October 10-12 to clear some more felled timber and branches

Tuesday 29th October 10-12 to clear some more felled timber and branches

Sunday 3rd November 10-12 to do any clearing that may be left and to start preparing the ground for planting the saplings.

There have been some amazing changes in the woods over the few weeks. Trees have been felled, steps installed and the lime kiln finished. The volunteers have done some fantastic work moving felled timber, creating habitat piles, dead hedges and clearing glass from the paths in the woods.

We now have 2 new light and airy clearings to plant with native saplings to encourage biodiversity.

There is plenty to do. The work is fun and rewarding and a good way to meet other people.

Please let me know if you can join in.

I have some photos below showing what the felled areas look like before and after the volunteer sessions with areas ripe for planting. You can also see that lovely views from the woods are now emerging and we have left some partially felled tree ‘monoliths’ which will become vertical habitats over the course of time.
