At the moment I am trying to trace relatives of Joseph Oakes born 1909 died 12/10/1944. He lived in Weston in Gordano, Somerset and married Irene Annetta Bessant in 1942 who died in 1972 in Weston in Gordano . Joseph’s parents were Joseph and Janet Oakes. Irene Bessant did have family in the area. In particular a brother Herbert James Bessant who lived at Garstpn Farm, Cheddar and died in 1984. Joseph was a Corporal , 5th Lancashire Regiment 1st Battalion . My search in various online sites has not provided anymore information to add to his history.
