Tuesday saw a visit to Prestow Woods from Rob Beckly (QPM) the High Sheriff of Somerset. The High Sheriff is an official representative of the King with particular responsibilites for criminal justice but both Rob and the King have a very keen interest in the benefits that come from volunteering.

Rob spent time hearing about the work we have done so far, our plans for the future and what we are trying to achive through the Prestow Woods project. He also looked at the impressive progress that is being made with restoring the western line kiln.

Rob was accompanied by Mandy Gardner from Voluntary Action North Somerset and we talked about volunteering in the area. On an individual level there are proven benefits to mental health and wellbeing and communies also benefit from what is done on their behalf. Rob and Mandy undertook to raise the profile of the PWNR work in Somerset.

Rob was wearing his official ceremonial uniform although he did leave his hat and ceremonial sword at home!
